Mike Lee is Hawaii born and raised, and it shows. An avid surfer and waterman, he gets a lot of the inspiration for his wood carving from the ocean. An excellent and patient instructor as well, he has given demonstrations and taught at some of America’s premier schools, and as far away as New Zealand.

His work is in the permanent collections of The Renwick Gallery, Smithsonian American Art Museum; The State Foundation of Culture and the Arts; Hawaii State Art Museum; Honolulu Academy of Arts,  The Contemporary Museum; Detroit Institute of Arts, Arkansas Arts Center and The Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts as well as numerous private collections around the world.  He has been a featured demonstrator at several National woodturning symposiums and has taught at the Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts.  He has exhibited work at National and International juried shows.
